On January 23 2021 in Tashkent we are starting a new season of Technovation Girls Uzbekistan – the largest technological contest for girls. The program has been administered in Uzbekistan since 2016. 

The goal of the contest is to develop “flexible” skills among participants, inspire their interest in IT and entrepreneurship, and spread the word about female role models in STEM as well as teach them how to solve socially important problems using technology. 

The program in Uzbekistan will kick off with a large-scale event – Technovation Uzbekistan Launch Event 2021, which will bring together participants, mentors, partners, coordinators and contest organizers. The event will take place in the Ministry of Innovation Development. 

The program of the grand opening includes: addresses from featured guests, teams from Tashkent and Fergana valley, detailed explanation of the rules and regulations of Technovation as well as questions and answers session, during which the teams will receive comprehensive information about the contest. 

Technovation Girls Uzbekistan program includes 3 months of classes (February – April) that will happen in all regions of Uzbekistan. Due to quarantine limitations and for the benefit of the regional teams, most of the sessions will be held online.

Webinars will be held by local and international experts on the following topics:

• mobile app development (using App Inventor)
• writing business plan, social entrepreneurship
• video recording and editing using smartphones
• presentation building
• mentorship
• career in IT
• Sustainable Development Goals

Special webinars with international experts from Oracle IT-company will also take place. 

The program also includes seminars for mentors. A mentor could be a student, a teacher or IT specialist aged 19 and older. 

Program finale in Uzbekistan is planned for May 2021. The best teams will receive prizes. In June an international jury will select a few teams that will continue participation in the global contest from Uzbekistan.  

Participation in the program is free. Registration for mentors and participants is open until February 10 on www.technovation.uz
