The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) is a training and mentoring program specifically designed for women micro-business owners. It gives enterprising women the knowledge, networks, and access they need to launch and scale successful.
ㅤ
In Uzbekistan this program will be launched for the second time for 30 women entrepreneurs from 3 regions of Fergana Valley: Andijan, Fergana and Namangan.

The first AWE program in Uzbekistan was completed in February 2023, with 25 women entrepreneurs from Fergana Valley, who graduated from the first Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan. Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), is a U.S. Government initiative that supports women entrepreneurs around the world. In Uzbekistan AWE program is organized by the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan and Tech4Impact NGO.

AWE is centered around a rigorous online course called 100 Million Learners, developed by Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management. Leading local business leaders from Uzbekistan will help facilitate the intensive program scheduled to run from November 2024 to March 2025.

Through AWE, participants learn core business skills and then get together as a class to discuss the material with experienced implementers, local mentors, and U.S. Exchange Alumni.

AWE Uzbekistan sessions will take place in Andijan, Fergana and Namangan from November 2024 to March 2025. Selected participants are expected to complete the online business training course and to participate in all in-person sessions over the course of the program.

Eligibility requirements:
ㅤ

• Female entrepreneurs (founders or co-founders) between 25-40 years old:
• Fluency in English or Russian (all online classes will be in English or Russian languages); 
• Resident in one of the regions: Andijan, Fergana or Namangan;
• Should have working business (no idea stage), with at least 1 year of business experience;
• Ability to participate in weekly online / in-person group sessions, with time commitment 4+ hours a week;
• Computer literacy and access to computer / smartphone for online sessions;

  • A 2021 evaluation of the program (running in 80 countries) showed that 74 percent of women who complete the AWE program increase their business earnings and 29 percent hire more staf.
  • The AWE program empowers women: more than 90 percent of AWE graduates say they are more confident since completing the program, citing stronger skills in strategic planning and public speaking.
  • Opportunity to participate in world-class online business management trainings as well as mentorship sessions with local business leaders, networking with local entrepreneurs.
  • Participants receive certificate after completing the program and gain membership to the US Exchange Alumni network (with access to a network of support, potential seed funding and business opportunities).

  • Application deadline: October 20, 2024.
  • Interview with selected participants based on applications: November 18-19, 2024.
  • Announcement of selected participants:  November 23, 2024.
  • 100 Million Learners online course, local business sessions, workshops with international experts (online and in-person),  networking events and field-trips to successful businesses in Andijan, Namangan and Fergana: November-December, 2024.
  • Individual business mentoring sessions: January – February 2025.
  • Final Pitching event in Tashkent, with award ceremony: March, 2025.
  AWE program is free for participants. Travel expenses (for participating in main in-person events outside of your cities of residency) will be covered.
