Winning the Contest of the World Bank SDGs and Her

Saida Yusupova won the international contest of women entrepreneurs, organized annually with the support of the World Bank Group and the UN.

Saida was among the 2 winners selected among more than 1,200 applications from around the world, and made an address on April 11, 2019 in Washington, at the World Bank global meeting.

The contest aims to popularize knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their impact on the lives and activities of women, as well as the development of cooperation for the exchange of experience in solving global social, economic and environmental problems.

Over 1,200 applications from women entrepreneurs from around the world were submitted to participate in the 2019 competition.

 

 

The jury awarded the victory to Uzbek woman Saida Yusupova, the founder and director of the Green Business Innovation consulting agency in Tashkent, and Indiana Vandana Suri, head of the TaxShe startup project from Bangalore.

The contribution of organizations to implementation of specific socio-economic and environmental tasks identified in the framework of the SDGs, as well as the long-term impact and effectiveness of their business projects for local communities, was evaluated.

The competition involves women owning or managing micro-enterprises with less than nine employees and an annual turnover of less than $ 100 thousand.
