About the Project

ClimateLaunchpad is the largest international competition of green business ideas. In 2019, Uzbekistan joined to the 50 participating countries for the first time. ClimateLaunchpad in Uzbekistan is represented by Green Business Innovation.     On July 11-12, the Climate Launchpad Uzbekistan bootcamp was held in Tashkent for the selected teams. Bootcamp is an intensive two-day training for ambitious entrepreneurs who want to help solve the problems of climate change, water and the environment.     The bootcamp had been held by Frans Nauta, the founder of ClimateLaunchpad. _______________________________ On 6 August the nine projects had  appeared with pitch sessions. The expert jury of eight members had chosen the two best projects and the winners from Uzbekistan in 2019 had been 2 teams:

  • VIOM — production of water-soluble and biodegradable films based on natural raw materials, for packaging dry products/goods and agricultural applications;

  • Proteus — production of autonomous mini and micro hydropower electric plants on the basis of additive technologies (3D-printing).

2 best startups from Uzbekistan in November 2019 will go to Amsterdam to the global final of ClimateLaunchpad. The competition events in Uzbekistan, in 2019, are held in partnership with the Water Solutions Innovation Lab accelerator, USAID/CAREC Smart Waters project, the CAREC Innovation and Scientific Research Cluster, and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. _______________________________ About the contest:  The goal of ClimateLaunchpad is to help beginning entrepreneurs to develop their clean technology ideas globally. The mission of the contest is to address the effects of climate change through innovation, invention and entrepreneurship. The contest accepts ideas and projects in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency, food and agriculture, water supply, transport, industrial technology and any other means of combating climate change. At the international finals of the competition, teams will be able to present their business ideas to international investors. The best projects will be posted on the competition website, this is an excellent PR for a project. The top ten teams of the international finals will have access to the Climate-KIC accelerator of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. Teams that took 1, 2, 3 places in the international finals will receive a money prize for development of project in the amount of €10,000, €5,000 and €2,500, respectively. _______________________________ Since 2014, the ClimateLaunchpad has been globally held by Climate-KIC, the European Union’s Climate and Innovation Program, founded in 2010 by the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), the EU body that creates sustainable economic growth in Europe, addressing the global challenges of our time.
